Many surveys show that sleeping on your right side may increase acid reflux symptoms at night. The reason is not yet entirely clear. The esophagus enters the right side of the abdomen. The lower esophageal sphincter gets covered by acid when you sleep on your right side. So acid can leak through it and cause reflux when you are sleeping.
